SAN DIEGO, May 16 (UPI) -- A San Diego research firm says its 2005 Total Quality Index has given high marks to Nissan North America Inc. and the General Motors Corp.
Nissan North America and GM each led in five segments of Strategic Vision's TQI for this year, the company said Monday.
"The common thread in Nissan and Infiniti models is superior delivery of power, style and innovation that create a strong emotional response in new owners," said Strategic Vision Vice President Daniel Gorrell. "The company's strongly focused product effort suggests a route struggling domestic companies might follow."
Several new GM products took top honors in their segments. Pontiac's G6 medium sedan won over Toyota and Honda entries, as did the Buick Rainier medium sport utility vehicle.
TQI assesses the "complete ownership experience," from buying and owning to driving new vehicles. It gauges perceived quality, vehicle attributes and emotional response to the vehicles.
