CHICAGO, April 29 (UPI) -- Meats and baked goods company Sara Lee of Chicago said Friday that it is moving corporate headquarters and most North American operations to Downers Grove, Ill.
The consolidation of operations is expected to add up to 400 jobs to the Chicago area.
Sara Lee said in a statement that it is moving its corporate headquarters from Chicago, its bakery business from St. Louis and its packaged meats business from Cincinnati, as well as its beverage business in Rolling Meadows, Ill., to the Downers Grove location. Two new business divisions will be formed: Sara Lee Food & Beverage and Sara Lee Foodservice.
The move is scheduled for completion by July 2006.
The company will however keep about 70 accounting, tax and shareholder services employees in a corporate finance center in downtown Chicago, it said.
