NEW YORK, April 25 (UPI) -- NYC & Company, the tourism marketing arm of New York City, says it has a new theme song to promote some of the city's famous destinations.
"New York: For the Time of Your Life," written by Broadway composer Frank Wildhorn, will debut next week at Pow Wow, an international travel trade show where U.S. cities promote themselves to the European market, the New York Post reported Monday.
"We want tour operators to go back to their countries humming the tune and thinking about New York City," said NYC & Co. President Cristyne Nicholas.
Danny Aiello was originally slated to sing the big-band-style anthem, which drops names like Times Square, the Bronx Zoo, the Staten Island ferry, Coney Island and the Rockettes, but a hip injury has caused the tourism group to approach "major recording artists," but none have yet been confirmed.
HBO was putting together ad spots Monday built around the song and Nicholas said NYC & Co. hopes to air the spots nationally.
