Court allows Trump to reorganize

CAMDEN, N.J., April 5 (UPI) -- A federal bankruptcy judge in New Jersey has authorized Donald J. Trump to bring his hotels and casinos out of Chapter 11.

Judge Judith H. Wizmur approved the plan that allows the Trump company to refinance its debt and rename Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts Inc. to Trump Entertainment Resorts Inc. Trump retains a 30 percent stake with bondholders controlling 65 percent, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

The company, which operates Trump Taj Mahal, Trump Plaza and Trump Marina, is anticipated to emerge from bankruptcy within 30 days.

Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts Inc. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy Nov. 21, citing onerous interest payments on $1.8 billion in debt.

The company reported a fourth-quarter loss of $99.8 million, more than double its loss of $40.9 million in the year-earlier quarter.
