TOKYO, Feb. 14 (UPI) -- Japan's biggest brokerage house may be joining forces with one of Europe's oldest financial groups, a Japanese financial newspaper reported.

The Nihon Keizai Shimbun said Nomura Securities is expected to reach a deal with the Anglo-French giant Rothschild financial group later this week.

The Nikkei said the alliance will allow the companies to pursue international mergers and acquisitions more easily.
