CHICAGO, Feb. 9 (UPI) -- The gas-electric Toyota Prius Hybrid, Lexus LS430 SUV and Toyota Highlander SUV were among the best-value vehicles picked by IntelliChoice for 2005.
Toyota and Honda dominated the best overall value awards announced Wednesday at the 97th Chicago Auto Show at McCormick Place.
The Prius sells for less than $23,000, the Lexus more than $23,000 and the Highlander 2WD less than $28,000.
"IntelliChoice exists to provide empirical and definitive economic advice on the entire vehicle marketplace, said James Bell, publisher of Primedia's InteliChoice.
The best value cars were the Honda Civic Coupe in the under $16,000 compact class, the Honda Civic Hybrid in the compact class over $16,000, the Toyota Prius, mid-size under $21,000, VW Passat TDI midsize over $21,000, Chrysler 300 large class, Lexus ES330 in the near luxury class and Lexus LS430 in the luxury class.
Toyota's RAV4 was the best value compact SUV under $21,000, Honda CR-V 4WD, compact SUV over $21,000, Toyota Highlander, best mid-size SUV under $28,000, Lexus RX330, mid-size SUV over $28,000, Toyota Sequoia SR5 best value full-size SUV and Toyota Land Cruiser, full-size SUV over $36,000.
