U.S. manufactuers upbeat for 2005

WASHINGTON, Dec. 23 (UPI) -- U.S. manufacturing will likely be strong in 2005, the head of the National Association of Manufacturers said Thursday.

In a statement shortly after the release of the latest government report on durable goods, NAM President John Engler said that "though there's certainly much work to do in the New Year to make sure our recovery and expansion continue, this is a great way to end the year. U.S. manufacturing finally shook off its extended recession in 2004 and is poised to lead overall economic growth again next year."
