LORAIN, Ohio, Dec. 21 (UPI) -- More than a thousand autoworkers at the Ford plant in Lorain, Ohio, will lose their jobs next year, Ford Motor Co. officials said Tuesday.
Ford said the Lorain plant that produces the Econoline van will close Dec. 23, 2005, eliminating 1,200 jobs, reported WEWS-TV, Cleveland.

Econoline van production will shift to the Ford plant in Avon Lake, Ohio.
The Detroit automaker has asked the locals of the United Auto Workers union at both plants to start negotiating with each other on how to deal with consolidations.
