TROY, Mich., Oct. 18 (UPI) -- Kmart Holding in Troy Mich., Monday named Aylwin Lewis as its new president and chief executive, effective immediately.

Lewis replaces Julian Day, who had served as Kmart's president and chief executive officer since January 2003.

Kmart said Day will remain on the board and assist Lewis, who will also join the board, in the management transition.

Lewis joins Kmart from Yum! Brands Inc., where he was president, chief multi-branding and operating officer. Kmart said he is a 13-year veteran of Yum!, and has been in the restaurant industry for 26 years.

Yum!'s restaurant brands include KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell and Long John Silver's.
