SINGAPORE, Oct. 12 (UPI) -- A free trade agreement between Singapore and India is expected to be signed by the end of the year, the Indian High Commissioner to Singapore said
Alok Prasad said negotiations for the FTA, officially known as the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement, were proceeding "very satisfactorily," The Business Times reported Tuesday.

He noted that as India strengthens its reforms and liberalization, the country's engagement with Southeast Asia would only increase and Singapore was well-poised to play a pivotal role in that process.
