MIAMI, Oct. 5 (UPI) -- Gov. Jeb Bush will help the tourism industry recover from Florida's hurricanes, but he has stopped short of endorsing the $30 million officials want.

Tourism officials told Bush Monday they want him to encourage the Legislature to provide the money for advertising to repair damage to the state's image.

Bush agreed the industry needs help but would not commit to the full $30 million, The Miami Herald reported Tuesday.

A record four hurricanes slammed into Florida over a six-week span this summer and fall, and national television has been full of pictures of destruction and hardship.

"You don't have to convince me we have a perception problem," Bush said. "I've got to just make the assessment about how much money to allocate."

The governor is expected to call a special session of the Legislature in December to readjust the budget to pay for hurricane costs.
