SINGAPORE, Sept. 30 (UPI) -- Some 63 percent of Singapore companies are considering outsourcing over the next five years, according to a survey by research firm Gartner.

The survey found that 72 percent of Singapore firms are not outsourcing yet, Channel NewsAsia reported Thursday.

Outsourcing has been in the news in recent weeks, with Singapore Airlines and Singapore Airport Terminal Services announcing they are farming out jobs. But right now, the two companies appear to be the exception rather than the rule.

The main reason companies are not outsourcing is that they lack an understanding of what is involved, the study found.

Many are also worried about security leaks and lack of control over the outsourcing.
