WASHINGTON, Sept. 4 (UPI) -- The Bush administration has said that it will consider U.S. manufacturers' petitions to control imports of Chinese textiles.
Trade experts have said the U.S. government increased pressure on Beijing to reduce trade tensions between the two countries, the Los Angeles Times reported Saturday. China has resisted managing its booming textile and apparel industry, one of its main job providers.

However, the Bush administration risks angering U.S. retailers and importers, who have said China doesn't pose a threat to the U.S. textile and apparel industry. They said trade limits add billions of dollars to apparel prices and will not prevent American jobs from moving to lower-cost countries.
