Alitalia unions demand more on biz plan

ROME, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Alitalia Air Line's trade unions are asking for more information concerning the airline's labor strategy before voting on new contracts, AGI.com reports.

Sources within the unions said they decided to make the demand during a Monday meeting in Rome.

During the meeting, unions asked Alitalia and the government to meet labor deals signed in May.

Earlier this year Italy's president Silvio Berlusconi fired two Alitalia heads after unions protested proposed jobs cuts.

The Italian government owns more than 60 percent of the airline.
