STAMFORD, Conn., Aug. 25 (UPI) -- Connecticut analyst firm Gartner predicts 2004 global semiconductor sales will be 27.4 percent above 2003, vnunet.com reports.
Total global semiconductor sales will reach $226 billion this year, Gartner said.
Although vendors reported a large inventory increase for this year's second quarter, Gartner said its Dataquest Semiconductor Inventory Index showed inventory levels were fine for the rising market.
Richard Gordon, research vice president for Gartner, said despite several quarters of industry growth and near-30-percent revenue growth for this year, vendors are still concerned about the long-term market outlook in light of 2001's severe market downturn.
