Dannon appoints Alto as its new president

TARRYTOWN, N.Y., July 6 (UPI) -- Yogurt giant The Dannon Company Inc. of Tarrytown, N.Y., Tuesday said it had appointed Juan Carlos Dalto as its new president and chief executive.

Dalto succeeds Thomas Kunz, who was recently promoted to executive vice president of the Water and Beverage division of Dannon's parent company, Groupe Danone.

Dalto joined Groupe Danone in December 1997 and served as vice president of Marketing for Danone Argentina before becoming CEO of Danone Portugal in 2000. He became president and CEO of Danone Italia in 2002, where he served until his most recent appointment at Dannon.

Dalto, an Argentine citizen, holds a degree in industrial engineering from the Buenos Aires Institute of Technology and a master's degree in Strategic Marketing.
