CHARLESTON, S.C., June 8 (UPI) -- Struthers Inc. of South Carolina said Tuesday it plans to acquire privately held SeaSearch Scientific Corp.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

SeaSearch Scientific is an oceanographic search, recovery of marine antiquities, documentaries, and salvage company. The company carries out archeologically sensitive recovery of valuable international cargoes and artifacts from shipwrecks located in South-Eastern United States, United Kingdom, Bahamas, Caribbean, Spain, Brazil, the Middle East and the South China Sea.

Douglas Beatty, President of Struthers, said, "Our goal is for Struthers to gain a strong foothold in the significant international oceanographic marine antiquities business. And also the very lucrative survey and salvage of modern day shipwrecks."
