Sales rise at Rite Aid

CAMP HILL, Pa., June 8 (UPI) -- Rite Aid of Pennsylvania said Tuesday its same store sales for the five week selling period ended May 29 rose 4.8 percent.

Pharmacy same store sales rose 4.9 percent, while front-end same store sales, or sales excluding prescription sales, improved 4.6 percent.

Total drugstore sales for the five-week period increased 4.4 percent to $1.64 billion from $1.57 billion for the same period last year.

Prescription revenue accounted for 64.1 percent of drugstore sales, and third party prescription revenue represented 93.8 percent of pharmacy sales.

Rite Aid is one of the nation's leading drugstore chains and currently operates 3,374 stores.
