Verizon said it invested more than $1 billion just during the first 90 days of 2004 to install new cell sites, expand the network's capacity and engineer other service improvements to further strengthen its wireless network.

Denny Strigl, Verizon Wireless president and chief executive officer, said: "Verizon Wireless' commitment to providing the highest quality products and services and strengthening the reliability and reach of our wireless network has resulted in a loyal customer base that continues to grow.

"When customers join Verizon Wireless, we want them to know they will receive the most satisfying wireless experience on the nation's most reliable and expansive wireless network."
