Spirit recently announced orders for 35 new Airbus aircraft, with options to buy 50 more.

Spirit said it will take 15 aircraft directly from Airbus and 20 from the International Lease Finance Corp. The planes are scheduled to join Spirit's fleet beginning next spring.

"We are delighted to introduce our customers to the Airbus aircraft sooner than originally planned," said Jacob Schorr, president and CEO of Spirit Airlines.

Added Schorr: "This fall, customers will experience a roomier cabin, more comfortable seats, and more room for carry-on baggage. Spirit will experience a significant savings in fuel and maintenance costs that will continue to be passed on to our customers in the form of low ticket prices."
