Boeing delivers C-17 to RAF

TOKYO, May 11 (UPI) -- The Toyota Motor Corp. said Tuesday it had a banner fiscal 2003 year, becoming Japan's first company to net more than 1 trillion yen ($8.8 billion) in profit.
The company said its net profit jumped 54.8 percent from the previous fiscal year, the Mainichi Daily News reported.
Toyota President Fujio Cho said the company achieved the profit from revenues that were up across the global market.
"Formerly, we posted profits in the U.S., but went red in Europe," Cho said. "But this time we weren't in the red anywhere in the world."
During fiscal 2003, Toyota sold 6.78 million vehicles worldwide, just behind Detroit-based General Motors' 8.09 million vehicles and ahead of Ford Motor's 6.72 million vehicles.
