SEOUL, April 19 (UPI) -- The contest between South Korea's two airlines, Korean Air and Asiana, over lucrative air routes to China is apparently becoming nastier.
The dispute was started by the government's recent additional distribution of air routes to China, the Korea Times reported Monday.
The dispute expanded when Asiana filed a lawsuit against the Korea Ministry of Construction and Transportation, claiming the distribution was unfair.
Asiana President Park Chan-hup told reporters the lawsuit is aimed at nullifying the effect of the air route distribution and the withdrawal of the allocation.
The ministry has distributed 10 weekly flights between Korea and Shanghai to Korean Air and 1 flight to Asiana.
Both airlines have complained of what they call unfair distribution.
