GENEVA, Switzerland, Oct. 14 (UPI) -- NTT DoCoMo, a pioneer in the third generation of mobile phone technology, is making its move into the British market.

The Japanese cell phone giant is negotiating with several companies to bring its cell phone Internet service --the i-mode phone -- to Great Britain, the New York Times reported.

The i-mode phone technology allows faster service and graphics with sharper definition.

The head of DoCoMo, Keiji Tachikawa, told a news conference at the ITU Telecom World exhibition in Geneva the i-mode had more than a million subscribers in Europe and the company was "now on track for growth."

The service is already available in the Netherlands, France, Sweden and Spain and has more than 40 million subscribers in Japan.
