Stocks open lower

NEW YORK, Dec. 23 (UPI) -- Prices on the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq Stock Market were lower in light trading Monday. The Dow Jones industrial average was down 45.30 points to 8,466.00 shortly after the opening bell. The Nasdaq composite index was down 1.14 points to 1,361.91.
