BOJ leaves monetary policy unchanged

TOKYO, Aug. 9 (UPI) -- The Bank of Japan, as expected, left its ultra-easy monetary policy unchanged Friday. The nine members of the BOJ policy board all voted to maintain the central bank's "quantitative easing" policy of flooding the banking system with excess liquidity to keep overnight rates pegged virtually at zero and to combat deflation.
