Mortgage rates rise

WASHINGTON, March 8 (UPI) -- Freddie Mac said Friday long-term mortgage rates rose during the latest reporting week amid signs an improving economy could leave the Federal Reserve poised to raise interest rates when it meets March 19. Freddie Mac said the average rate on the 30-year loan to homebuyers rose to 6.87 percent from 6.80 percent last week.
