Unemployment rate drops to 5.6 percent

WASHINGTON, Feb. 1 (UPI) -- Indicating a possible turnaround to the U.S. economic slowdown, the unemployment rate dropped slightly in January to 5.6 percent, according to a report Friday by the U.S. Labor Department. The report showed that the number of unemployed people declined in January by 337,000 to 7.9 million, seasonally adjusted.
