Here are the latest developments related to the Enron case:

*J. Clifford Baxter, 43, former Enron vice chairman, was found dead Friday in a parked car in Sugar Land, Texas, the victim of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, police said.

* David B. Duncan, Arthur Andersen LLP's lead auditor for Enron Corp., as expected invoked his Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination Thursday in response to questions by members of the subcommittee of the House Energy Committee.

* The Governmental Affairs Committee, chaired by Sen. Joseph Lieberman, D-Conn., held a hearing Thursday to look at whether various government agencies could have done more to protect thousands of Americans and businesses hurt by the Enron bankruptcy.

* A federal judge in Houston has barred Andersen from shredding any more documents related to Enron audits and ruled employees who admitted to destroying documents must give depositions as early as next month.

* Citing a family emergency, Kenneth L. Lay, Enron's former chairman and chief executive officer, canceled a meeting with civil rights activist Jessie Jackson on Thursday. Jackson went to the company's Houston headquarters anyway and told reporters that laid off Enron workers should be reimbursed from money pocketed by company executives.
