Israeli shekel drops 6 percent

TEL AVIV, Israel, Jan. 3 (UPI) -- The value of the Israeli shekel dropped Thursday, to a record NIS 4.473 to the U.S. dollar. That marks a 6.2 percent drop within two weeks. Finance Minister Silvan Shalom said the process was "one of the best tidings in a long time."
