HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill., Dec. 27 (UPI) -- Sears, Roebuck and Co. said Thursday it has settled a federal lawsuit filed by the U.S. attorney in Southern Illinois over Sears DieHard batteries. The suit was filed in 1994 after the batteries' maker, Exide Technologies, revealed certain manufacturing defects would prevent the batteries from meeting certain advertised specifications.
