Chicago Bears first-round pick Leonard Floyd left his first training camp practice on a cart Thursday.

Floyd, the ninth overall pick out of Georgia, appeared to be in good spirits. The team later tweeted that he was sick.

Head coach John Fox said Floyd had been feeling ill for several days.

The Bears traded up to select the pass-rushing outside linebacker in April. He was placed on a high-calorie diet and nutrition regimen to address his lanky 6-foot-6 frame.

A high-cut body type makes Floyd susceptible to low blocks.

Floyd described his inability to pack on pounds as "losing weight in my sleep" but he took up a regimen that involved setting a timer on his cell phone to remind him to consume calories.

Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio told The Sports Xchange in June that Floyd had all the tools to be a great pass rusher, but stopped short of agreeing with comparisons to former Missouri pass rusher and 49ers first-round pick Aldon Smith.
