1990 Year in Review

Howard Dicus: The Iron Lady cried in 1990. Margaret Thatcher got misty-eyed as she contemplated the end of her lengthy stewardship of Britain, but despite dumping her over her Radissons to join a larger Trans-Europe government, British Conservatives picked the man she wanted to be her successor. John Major came to Washington, and said that the close relationship between Britain and the US would remain.

John Major: “We have clearly illustrated yet again there is a very strong community of ideals as well as a community of interests.”

Howard Dicus: Lech Wałęsa founder of the Solidarity Movement that led the way to new east European freedom was elected President of Poland in 1990, and the Czech Lech Vلclav Havel was reelected President of his country. East block freedom moves continued clear through to December when Albania once Marxists as any nation on earth began tearing down its statues of Stalin. This is the year in review.
