Ken Herrera: For a time in 1987, two men of the cloth appeared to be the frontrunners for the Democratic and GOP Presidential Nominations, the Reverend Jessie Jackson and Evangelist Pat Robertson. Jackson had surged ahead when Gary Hart backed out after news leaked of his involvement with model Donna Rice. His reentry into the political arena drew a diverse spectrum of comment and shook up the Democratic horserace.

The decision to try it again was not one which Hart made without first consulting his family …
