UPI Spotlight: Kevorkian convicted of lesser charge

PONTIAC, Mich., March 26 -- Dr. Jack Kevorkian has been convicted (Friday) on a lesser charge of second-degree murder in the death of a victim of Lou Gehrig's disease.

He was also convicted of delivery of a controlled substance. The 70-year-old advocate of doctor- assisted suicide is expected to appeal the conviction, which stems from the lethal injection of a Michigan man that was videotaped and broadcast on '60 Minutes.' He had been charged with first-degree murder.
