Iowa 79, No. 9 Michigan St. 78

IOWA CITY, Iowa, March 8 -- Andre Woolridge's jumper with 1.9 seconds remaining Wednesday night lifted Iowa to a 79-78 victory over ninth-ranked Michigan State.

Jess Settles had 22 points, Chris Kingsbury added 20, Kenyon Murray 12 and Woolridge 10 for Iowa (19-10, 9-8 in the Big Ten), which improved its chances for a bid in the NCAA Tournament. Shawn Respert scored 39 points and Quinton Brooks added 12 for the Spartans (21-4, 13-4), who fell one-half game behind Purdue in the Big Ten standings. Woolridge hit a three-pointer with 18.1 seconds left to give Iowa a 77-76 lead, but Michigan State regained the advantage on Jamie Feick's slam dunk with 9.3 seconds remaining.
