ORLANDO, Fla. -- Junior Derrick Brooks of Florida State heads the list of finalists for the 1993 Butkus Award, which is given to the nation's outstanding collegiate linebacker.
Trev Alberts of Nebraska and junior Jamir Miller of UCLA were the other finalists announced by the Downtown Athletic Club of Orlando, which sponsors the award.

The three were winnowed from a list of 11 semifinalists. The winner is to be announced at ceremonies in Orlando on December 11.
Other semifinalists included Sean Harris of Arizona and Jerrott Willard of California, both juniors, plus Aubrey Beavers of Oklahoma, Keith Burns of Oklahoma State, Mitch Davis of Georgia, DeWayne Dotson of Mississippi, Ryan McCoy of Houston and Ron Woolfork of Colorado.
