FOXBORO, Mass. -- Defensive end Doug Rogers, who had not played this year due to a foot injury, was waived Tuesday by the New England Patriots.

Rogers, a fourth-year pro who attended Stanford University, was on the team's list of players physically unable to perform. Rogers, 6-foot-5, 280 pounds, was picked up on waivers in 1983 from the Atlanta Falcons.

The lineman injured his foot on Sept. 30, 1984, and it was operated upon in May 1985.

He had never started a game in his pro career.
