She was rushed to a hospital after the 2 p.m. leap and pronounced dead at the facility, a police spokeswoman said. The dead woman's husband, Oscar Straus III, was at the hospital, the spokeswoman said.

It was not known if he was in the apartment, rented to Straus, when his wife jumped.

A spokesman said Coors, chairman and chief executive officer of the Adolph Coors Brewing Co. of Golden, Colo., was notified of Mrs. Straus' death late Friday and rushed to New York.

Mrs. Straus was Coors' daughter by his first wife, who is deceased.

The dead woman has two sisters, May Louise Atre of San Luis Obiso, Calif., and Margret Beresford of Providence, R.I.
