RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Fairleigh Dickinson head basketball coach Jay Donald Feeley will not be rehired next season because of 'imcompatible' philosophies with the university, Athletic Director Stan Wright said today.
'In my role as director of athletics, I have recommended that Coach Feeley not be reappointed beyond the term of his current contract, which expires June 30, 1983,' Wright said.
'While I cannot go into specific details on internal personnel matters, I will say that his educational and athletic philosophies were incompatible with my own and those of the institution,' he added.
During Feeley's three years at Fairleigh Dickinson, the team earned a 12-14 record the first year, 16-11 the following, and 17-12 this year.
Wright said a search for a new head coach would begin immediately.
