NEW YORK -- Umpire Bob Davidson has been promoted from the American Association to the National League to work games as a vacation replacement, it was announced Friday.

Davidson, 29, a native of Altoona, Iowa, has been an umpire in the American Association since 1978. He started in the Midwest League in 1974, worked in the Florida State League in 1975 and the Southern League in 1976 and 1977.
